FILM MENTORSHIP | 2017- 2020 | In collaboration with The Cinematheque, I have designed and facilitated various youth filmmaking workshops on documentary, narrative and experimental filmmaking. During the course of these workshops, I personally mentored participating youth through the creation of several award winning short films. These workshops were generously funded by funding bodies such as BC Arts Council and Creative BC.

Through the Cinematheque, I have collaborated with various organizations to create filmmaking workshops throughout the Lower Mainland, including SFU School of Contemporary Arts, Out On Screen and Vancouver Art Gallery. Several participants of these workshops represent a wide range of multicultural communities, including Indigenous and LGBTQ2AI+ youth. These workshops cover every stage of film production, including scriptwriting, directing, cinematography, sound, and editing.

The following samples are part of a larger collection of youth created short films that I have mentored through every stage of development. Since 2017, I have personally mentored and edited over 150 youth created short films through The Cinematheque’s filmmaking workshops.

Created as part of 'Reaching Out Project' a filmmaking workshop created by The Cinematheque and Out on Screen. We at the Cinematheque ran a program for LGBT youth across B.C’s lower mainland, intending to give them the resources to make films about their experiences. This project engaged youths in Vancouver, Coquitlam, and Burnaby, providing them with extensive professional support and mentorship from filmmakers and educators. Through this project, young people created videos to communicate important social justice messages, and to engage their school and communities. The project was generously supported by Coast Capital Savings and the TELUS Vancouver Community Board.
