Remanoir explores the correlation between memory and the present, and what life circumstances may make them indistinguishable. The key circumstance in Remanoir is grief. As Hannah grieves over her father's absence in her bedroom, she begins to hear sounds of his home video recordings play in the downstairs living room. The sound of her father's recorded voice beckons her forth.
